Student Tutoring

In this growing world of technology, TMC has the capability to offer student tutoring services to both Australian and New Zealand students enrolled in bachelor degree programs focusing on naturopathy, herbal medicine or nutrition… whatever your location!

Utilising Skype and other communication applications such as Google Hangouts, we can assist you in understanding curriculum specific subject matter within your course, or grasp big picture philosophies or theories that just aren’t making sense.

Specific areas of focus for student tutoring include:

  • Foundational nutrition (macronutrients, micronutrients, deficiencies etc);
  • Naturopathic philosophy (Therapeutic orders, Vis Medicatrix Naturae etc);
  • Herbal botany (nomenclature, plant morphology, taxonomy etc);
  • Herbal manufacturing (dosage forms, weight to volume ratios, prescribing, child dosing etc);
  • Herbal Materia Medica (Herb names, parts used, actions, disease indications, cautions/contraindications etc);
  • Herb/nutrient/drug interactions (Physicochemical, Pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic interactions);
  • Herbal pharmacology / pharmacognosy (Classes of plant based chemical constituents, microscopic/macroscopic identification etc)
  • Clinical herbal medicine / nutrition (Case analysis, rationale and clinical understanding, sharpening prescription etc)
  • Bioscience / Health Science based subjects (Clinical pathology, symptomatology, anatomy & physiology etc).

It should be made clear that this service does not assist in completing formal submittable assessment pieces such as assignments, but can assist in preparing students for final exams by assisting in the development of good study habits, providing educational resources and developing critical thinking skills.

Tutoring rates are $40 per hour, or $70 for two hours. You must provide an email detailing and providing the material you wish to cover 24-48 hours before the booking. Subject outlines are helpful to see what learning outcomes are needed, so are a useful resource for our staff to ensure you are covering the appropriate subject matter.

Technical / Academic Writing

Technical assistance in academic and professional writing is also a service offered at TMC, more specifically tailored for those students struggling with writing more advanced academic pieces or for those wanting to publish or write for articles or journals. We also have a staff member trained in editing, proof-reading and publishing, so for those struggling with grammar or punctuation, this can be a great assistance (not offered for formal assessment pieces).

Referencing of academic work is another factor that many people struggle with, and is just another topic we can assist you with should other avenues not be working for you. For more information on these services, send an email to office@tmconsultancy.com.au outlining your requirements and timeframes and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Technical Consultancy

With specific industry experience in designing new products for the Australian and International CAM product market, and qualifications spanning most areas of herbal and nutritional medicine, TMC can assist you in developing evidence-based and traditional formulations for new product development (NPD). Our principal consultant has designed over 28 products, from initial concept to manufacture and marketing, throughout his career and been involved in the re-design of over 20 pre-existing formulations. Close attention is paid to Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) requirements for claim substantiation throughout this process.

Services include:

  • Current formulation review / appraisal and due diligence;
  • Claim substantiation / List of Evidence compilations for new or existing products;
  • Technical research / review of traditional or scientific literature;
  • Reformulation of products based on current research trends;
  • Formulation development from product brief (concept).

With an extensive library of traditional and evidence based CAM publications, and access to modern databases, our ability to find information that others cannot is something we pride ourselves on at TMC.

Please note that TMC is not a regulatory affairs consultancy, and does not assist you in the regulatory requirements for products to comply with Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulations. We can, however, recommend companies and consultancies to you that provide this service. Should you need assistance in product registration, advertising clearance, product stability assistance, listing of new products or assistance with post-market product audits, please send an email to office@tmconsultancy.com.au outlining your requirements and we would be happy to recommend a TGA consultant for you or your business.

TMC also offers training packages for non-technical staff (marketing, sales etc) in the understanding of key CAM philosophies. This service is focused mostly on providing CAM education and training for staff members who may be working with complementary products and want a better understanding, and can be conducted as daily workshops or seminars. If your business may benefit from such training programs, please click here and send an email outlining your requirements.

Lastly, many of our consultants at TMC have spent time on the lecture circuits, which when combined with over a decade of constant lecturing experience means TMC can offer teaching and public speaking services on numerous CAM specific subjects. Let us know your requirements and we will have the right consultant for the job contact you.

Clinical Consultancy

Integration of both modern and traditional forms of medicine can often be a key to patient success, and open channels of communication between modern medical practitioners and those from the CAM sector is crucial to obtaining safe and efficacious patient outcomes, especially in the realm of therapeutic interactions.

With over 4 publications focusing on herb, drug and nutrient interactions, our principal consultant can assist both CAM and medical practitioners navigate the often confusing interface of physicochemical, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic interactions on a case by case basis. If this is a service that you or members of your clinic may require, TMC can quote on a stipend contractual basis, hourly rate or individual case output work as required. For more information on this service, and an initial free 30 minute telephone or Skype consultation to determine your requirements, please forward an email to office@tmconsultancy.com.au with attention to Justin Sinclair.

MEDICINAL CANNABIS CONSULTANCY

Medicinal Cannabis is a new and important field in Australia and internationally, and our principal consultant has been researching and studying this plant for over 15 years. Apart from working closely on the Scientific Advisory Council for United in Compassion, Australia's leading patient advocacy and lobbying group for patient access to Medicinal Cannabis, Justin has also been studying many scientific fields pertaining to the Cannabis genus, publishing articles and lecturing to medical practitioners since 2015.

The inflorescences, glandular trichomes (i.e. hashish), seeds, leaves and roots of Cannabis spp (Family Cannabaceae) have been a valuable commodity and revered medicine to humankind for millennia. It is

only in relatively recent times that the illegality of the Cannabis genus has been adopted by various countries, thus removing an important and sophisticated plant medicine from being available for the alleviation of

human suffering across a broad spectrum of disease states and conditions.

Currently, Cannabis  is experiencing a worldwide scientific renaissance investigating a wide range of  diverse therapeutic actions, including but not limited to analgesic, anticonvulsant, anti-emetic, muscle relaxant, appetite stimulant, bronchodilatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anxiolytic, anticancer and antimicrobial activities.

Links to his publications, presentations or podcasts on the topic of medicinal Cannabis can be found under the associated tabs above.

Key areas of interest in this field include:

Cannabis strains and genetics

- Cannabis botany and morphology

- The ethnopharmacology/ ethnobotany of Cannabis spp.

- Cultivation / horticulture practices

- Site security of Cannabis cultivation facilities

- Analytical phytochemistry of Cannabis spp, including cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids

- Therapeutic applications of various Cannabis strains

- The Endocannabinoid system in human physiology

TMC can offer a wide range of consultancy services in the Medicinal Cannabis space, including assisting in ODC applications and navigating regulations. Depending on the size of the project, TMC can offer a range of payment options. To get a quote for medicinal cannabis consultation services, please contact the Principal consultant here or send an email to office@tmconsultancy.com.au
